MY #BOROMANCAN STORY:

“We’ve got to get away from the belief that recovery isn’t possible”

Matthew decided to visit his GP after long periods of low mood and finding himself struggling at work. Taking action from his mum, Matthew accessed his GP who advised medication which he found part of the solution, but counselling has twice been his salvation and focus to fully understand his condition.

Over a period of seven years, he experienced many ups and downs with his illness, and life’s personal challenges and tried different treatments, reaching the lowest point in 2013 with extended time off work when things became too much.

“…recovery is about developing resilience, sometimes through counselling to understand and know what is right for you”

5 years on from that lowest point, Matthew is a published author telling his story, a vlogger about issues including suicide on lovelaughtertruthblog.com and is keen to encourage other men to get help, earlier and learn from his experiences.
