MY #BOROMANCAN STORY:
I’ve been involved with Sporting Chance since 2013, when the project first began in the Middlesbrough area. I like the range of activities, and definitely feel that it’s improved my health and well being, and I feel that the social side is important too, especially for men who live alone.
A few years ago, my friend suffered a stroke, and I witnessed the difficulties that my friend had, in accessing support and a route toward recovery, and I wanted to help, so I became a volunteer and committee member for Teesside Stroke Club. I find it really rewarding to see the hard work and determination that goes into the journey toward recovery. I often introduce Stroke Club members to Sporting Chance, as a route to long term activity and ongoing recovery.
